SAP Business One Credit Card Processing in a Batch vs. Real Time

Oct 11, 2017 12:36:08 PM

SAP-B1-APS.pngCredit card processing transactions are processed in one of two ways, batch or real time.  The method selected is determined by the company accepting payments and the environment where credit card transactions are processed.

New Call-to-action

SAP Business One credit card processing in a batch involves the exchange of information at the time of the transaction

and then again when clearing the settlement transaction later through another message.  The initial exchange of information from the daily transactions are collected in a batch and then at the end of the determined period of time (usually at the end of the day) the batch is sent to the processor as part of the end-of-day processing.  When a credit card is swiped or entered into SAP Business One via an online store or gateway the merchant's authorization codes are stored and at the end of the day or processing period all the information is sent and processed in one batch.  Batch processing is a lot

easier and less resource intensive than real time processing every transaction as it occurs. Batch processing is more convenient and less labor intensive because the merchant doesn't spend time on individual transaction processing.  The vendor isn't charged multiple fees for the same service throughout the day, the vendor simply sends one batch and avoids paying for single transactions throughout the day.
