Bankrate reports that 63% of all smartphone users have downloaded a financial app. The U.S. has approximately 250 million smartphones, which means 157.5 million people have financial mobile apps on their phones.
Paypal is so big and so old in fintech, it predates the term of ‘digital wallet’ or ‘e-wallet’ and gets its own category. As of Q4 2018, Paypal had 254 million active accounts and 17 million merchants worldwide. It processed 7.6 billion transactions in 2017.
